I am currently busy with the Thornbury Arts Festival, a local festival that has been running for 45 years. Every year famous and interesting guests and performers are invited to come to the town. This year headlines included Billy Oddy, the Festival Chamber Orchestra, and Samantha Bond. I was grateful to be able to give a talk about my BP Portrait Award project The Lace Trail, which was very well attended. Lots of people asked great questions and came to talk to me afterwards, which was great.
Sunday 26 April I am hosting the Thornbury Sketch Crawl, a plein-air sketching event for all who like drawing and sketching together. Thursday 30 April sees the start of the 10th Severn Vale Art Trail - a huge (nearly 60 participating artists!) Open Studios event that is always very popular. I am participating by opening my studio doors for 2 days (2 - 3 May, 10am - 5pm)! Please let me know if you are in the area and need more info. I will show some original works, some costumes from the BP Travel Award series, greeting cards and drawings. If the weather cooperates there might be some refreshments in the garden too.....
