Paintings inspired by the fabric-rich portraits of the 17th century but with a contemporary twist and feel.
My love of fabrics comes to the fore in these paintings where I share the beauty, texture, and history of fabrics such as lace, silk and velvet.
Portraits in oils and pastel. Examples of commissioned work (published here with permission) and non-commissioned works.
A series of ten paintings which were created after winning the BP Travel Award. The award gave me the opportunity to study and travel; researching the role of lace in 17th century portraiture. These new paintings bridge time and re-inforce our connection with the past. 17th century portraiture, with its magnificent display of costume and lace inspired these contemporary works where lace, role play and identity take centre stage.
