Podcasts are all the rage these days. I have quite a list of them and I listen regularly. They are great when going for a walk, at night in bed, or just while painting. Besides art podcasts I listen to history podcast and also small business and blogging podcasts. Below I list my favourite art podcasts. Do add your favourites in the comments below!
Savvy Painter Podcast with Antrese Wood
Wonderful podcasts interviewing artists about their work, life and inspiration.
Part of the History Hit podcast club and brought to life by Dr Janina Ramirez. Old art, new art, religious art, illustrations; it all gets its turn. I am a fan… Also check out her book on Anglo Saxon England.
Hosted by painters Tony Curanaj and Edward Minoff, and going since 2014, this podcast interviews all the big names in (American) contemporary realism such as Jeremy Mann, Mario Robinson, Sadie Valerie and many others.
Studio Break is a podcast and blog site created by David Linneweh in the Fall of 2011. It began simply as a way to continue the types of discussions artists have in studio about what their creating and how they are creating; to illuminate how visual artists maintain a studio practice. Recently my friend and artist Ilaria Rosselli Del Turco was on.
John Dalton Gently Does It
John interviews great artists. He writes: “I podcast to highlight the greats among us, the craftsmen and women who labor at the coal face of the easel. I podcast to connect, to learn, to make friends, to gather my tribe.” Episode 86 features Mary Jane Ansell.
Royal Academy of Arts
A variety of podcasts, often but not always related to their exhibitions.
It’s not about history but if anyone wants to know more about blogging then I would recommend listening to Darren Rowse. His Problogger podcasts and site are wonderful.
