Resources

I am often asked what my favourite paints or colours are, or how I build my website. On this page I list all the products and services that I use or recommend.

Please note these are my personal recommendations and you might well disagree with them.

Brushes

My favourite brushes do change from time to time and I like to try out new ones as well.  But overall I tend to come back to:

Shinku synthetic brushes (Jackson's)

Chungking Studio, hog hair brushes (Handover)

Acrylic synthetic oil/acrylic brushes (Pro Arte)

Miniature synthetic watercolour brush (Pro Arte)

Art Store

Jackson's stock everything and if they don't you can ask. They listen to artists and know their stuff. Jackson's (UK) ships quickly all over the world for very reasonable fees.

Oil paint

There are so many beautiful paints it is hard to choose and a joy to experiment.  My ideal paint might not be yours as we all have a different style and preference. I like fluid, non-oily, highly pigmented paint, such as:

Langridge

Vasari

Michael Harding

Also recommended oil paint:

Winsor & Newton Artists' Oils

Talens Rembrandt Oils

Pastel

My favourites at the moment:

Unison

Rembrandt

Polychromos

Pastel Paper

My favourite pastel papers have a lot of tooth:
